Even when the music royalty battle is at its peak, Salman Khan is the first producer to own the music rights of his film
In what looks like a unprecedented move of sorts, Salman Khan is said to have worked out a deal with the music company and managed to retain the music rights of his film, ‘Jai Ho’, for himself.
Music rights of a film are usually acquired by the music company but word has it that earnings from Jai Ho’s music rights won’t be raked in by T-series in the long run. A source close to the actor says that while T-Series will release the film’s music, its rights will remain with Salman.
T-Series owner Bhushan Kumar, however, denied the news saying that it is common practice for a production house to give them the film’s music rights. `For ‘Jai Ho’, Sohail Khan decided to give the music rights to Salmanbhai, who has now given it to us. Nothing has changed,` he said.
Director Sohail Khan didn’t reply to our text messages.
