You know what we only realized? Jezebel’s tipster was right – behind in February, they got a tip that Kim Kardashian was being photographed for Vogue, and everybody (including me) was like, “Eh, we gamble it’s for an general edition.” But no. It was for a American edition. The timing creates clarity – for an Apr cover, they would have indispensable to get a photoshoot finished by late February. So… Anna Wintour gave in months ago. Incidentally, we consider Wintour knew full good how argumentative this cover was going to be. Typically, a new Vogue cover debuts by a center of a month. we kept watchful to see because we were so distant into Mar and we still hadn’t seen a Vogue cover yet. So that’s because they waited to entrance it on an differently still Friday afternoon (also atypical for Vogue – they customarily dump their covers online on Mondays or Tuesdays).
Anyway, everybody is yelling about it and everybody is screaming about how they’re going to cancel their subscriptions. Sure. we can see how Kim’s cover would be a final straw, yet let’s not fake that there weren’t controversial cover subjects (not to discuss editorial content) before now. Let’s also not fake that Vogue doesn’t have HUGE problems with a farrago – not only racially and age-wise, yet also with size. Now, do we consider Kim’s donkey should have been a one to mangle a big-ass ceiling? No. But Vogue has other problems, that’s all I’m saying. There’s indeed a gossip going around that Kate Upton was ostensible to get this cover and Wintour altered her mind during a final minute. Vogue is denying that though.
Some representation reactions from a Vogue backlash: Nikki Finke during Deadline tweeted, “I’m amatory a large recoil directed during Anna Wintour for putting Kim Kardashian on Vogue cover. Issue should come with barf bag.” Sarah Michelle Gellar tweeted, “Well……I theory I’m canceling my Vogue subscription. Who is with me???” To that Kim’s BFF Jonathan Cheban tweeted to SMG, “Do U Matter?” Ouch.
I consider my favorite reactions from The Great Kimye Vogue Scandal were a parodies though. we LOVE The Muppets “Vague” satire yet James Franco gets a singular slow-clap from me for his Instagram satire – he IG’d a print with “Love you, dog!” directed during Seth. Awesome.
